Roselle Catholic sat comfortably at 9-0 on the season, earning the 5th rank in the DigitalSports National Basketball Rankings. Then, on January 13, unranked Linden High School came along and took down the best team in New Jersey.
The Tigers wasted no time in making their mark on the game, quickly jumping out to a 9-0 lead. At the half, Linden was leading a very close 28-23 game.
All of a sudden, Linden dominated the third quarter, led by Quinton Dixon, scoring 12 of his 15 points in the third. By the end of the quarter, Linden led 50-39. From there, Linden refused to let up on the gas, and the Tigers walked away with a 75-61 victory over one of the best teams in the nation.
Joining Dixon with 15 points was Otis Livingston, backed by 13 points from Juwan Dolbrice. The Lions struggled to keep up with Linden’s relentless scoring due to excellent coverage by the Tigers’ defense, never giving Roselle any opening or opportunity.
Linden, now 7-2, proved that the underdog should never be taken lightly. The Tigers get back on the court on January 15 against Union High School.
